What is Salvation?

What is Salvation? What does that mean? Are we saved? Can I be saved and what shall I do to be saved?  Do I have to be perfect to be saved?  These are all good questions.  Salvation is being saved, protected from harm; being saved or delivered from some dire situation. When we talk about salvation we mean this: the saving of the soul from sin and its consequences.

Sometimes we over think and worry so much about what we have done, We view our lives and say there is no need to be save; God doesn’t want a sinner like me and I am so beyond repair; not even if I repent, I can’t be saved.  Well what if I said to you that all you need to do is to come empty handed and receive it; no work, no perfection just as you are; a free gift; you don’t need to purchase anything or sign a contract.  Some of you are thinking right now and saying sure – everything comes at a cost nothing is free in this world. You are correct nothing free but Jesus paid the price for us.

We are all seeking a better life.  We think if I can find the right woman, or man or the right job I will be good; that’s all I need; I can live with that; and maybe do some good works helping people. I might win some good favor from God and he will bless me more.  The problem is that we focus so much on what the world tells us and what we must do.  They say we need to protect what is ours and we need to save ourselves because no one is going to save us.  Well that is the way of the world.  False works and “must save self” mindset is not going to save us.  But rather push us far from His love; far from the truth; far from salvation.

Here are few verses explaining salvation. Hopefully we all can re-think and open our minds to being part God family.   (1-3 whys & 4-7 how(s))

John 3:16: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Romans 3:23: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Romans 6:23: For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 5:8: but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

1 Corinthians 15: 3-4: For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures

Acts 16: 30-31: He Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”  And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

Ephesians 2:8: For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,

You see If salvation wasn’t free there will be no need for Christ; no need for him to come down from heaven to live with the sinners; to teach; to heal;  to care for us;  and  to give his life on the cross.  If we have to work at salvation like a full time job; as if we were going to get some form paycheck.  Well let me tell you that will never happen.  If God was our boss and salvation was our paycheck, we would be broke and God would fire us.  God gives us salvation as a form of his love.  We cannot earn his love.  Think about it this way, do our Mother’s and Father’s require us to take an exam to see if we are fit to be part of the family?   Do we fill out an application for a name?  NO, we are loved and given our names at birth.   Equally, God will not allow us to work for his love, our salvation.  Come to Christ with your empty hands and take what is yours. It’s been paid for, and it’s our Birth right as a child of God.

here’s the Gospel; Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Christ for the forgiveness of your sins scriptures doesn’t say that we must work for salvation, or only the righteousness is saved. True Salvation is rest upon the fact that Christ on the cross sacrifice himself for the sins of the world, not only for the righteous but for all the sinners of this world. His death was the final payment and only God himself in flesh can make such payment – no man or woman , Saint or Sinner can make such payment only GOD himself.

We must remember God our Father is a loving God, yes he requires perfection and yes he knows we cannot give him perfection and for that reason he gave his life so we can receive life eternal.  Simply “confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9    Amen

Let us pray:

Merciful Father we thank you for loving us and for sending your Son to save us from our sins, we confess with our whole heart that we are sinners and that we are broken. Please fill us with your love and cleanse us with the blood of Christ make us whole and new.  Amen
